Financial Analyst
About the Company: NBS is a growing private firm that provides specialized public finance consulting and services to local government agencies (cities, school districts, etc.) throughout California. In addition, NBS licenses its proprietary software, called D-FAST®
, to local government agencies nation-wide. The corporate office is in Temecula with the secondary office located in San Francisco. The company has grown and performed well over the past eleven years by providing valuable services with an excellent customer service orientation.
About the Position: NBS currently has an opening for a Financial Analyst. This position is an entry-level salaried position, with potential for advancement. The Financial Analyst plays an important frontline role in providing core services to our government agency clients. This specialized area is a combination of the disciplines of finance, legal, engineering, public relations and local government. The Analyst will interact with a number of clients and internal staff, and reports to the Director of District Administration. After initial training and on-the-job experiences, the Analyst will provide analytical support, data management, and reports to the client. The best candidate for this position is someone who has a business or engineering background, strong PC and software abilities, excellent organizational skills, and good communication skills. Multi-tasking is also necessary for this role given the nature of this position.
Position requirements: The following skills are important for this position:

- Must be Client-service oriented as our Clients are our most important asset
- Attention to quality and detail
- Able to work independently at a high level of accuracy
- Must be able to organize assigned workload and perform work efficiently
- Must be able to determine critical vs. non-critical issues and handle accordingly
- Must have a working knowledge of Word and Excel. An understanding of Access will also be of great help in completing tasks more efficiently
- College degree, preferably Finance or Accounting major
Primary Duties: The Financial Analyst is responsible for a number of regular clients and projects, as well as completing special projects and special requests. The position is focused primarily around the following duties:
- Coordinates and completes all day-to-day tasks for assigned Clients
- Uses the annual time-line established by NBS as a base scheduling tool
- Completes all tasks in a timely way
- Identifies additional services provided by NBS that Clients may utilize and help facilitate these new services
- Maintains clean, well-organized files that will be available to all other staff in your absence
- Identifies any potential problems or liabilities for Clients or NBS and reports such to Manager
- Returns Client telephone calls in the same day. Returns all other telephone calls within 24 hours
- Participates in meetings and training as required
- Reviews documents, proposals, and any other materials as requested by co-workers in a timely manner
- Communicates with co-workers any ways to improve work methods and processes
- Other administrative items, as needed
Salary: This is a salaried, exempt position with a salary range of $38,000 to $45,000 depending on qualifications and experience. In addition, NBS may pay a premium for candidates who hold an MBA, those who have advanced experience with specialized software such as MS Access and/or Fox Pro, or those who have vast experience in our specialized industry.
Benefits and Culture: This position has
a minimum 40-hour workweek. Our office hours are 8:00 a.m.
to 5:00 p.m. PST. Some overtime hours will be necessary throughout
the year. This position would work out of the corporate office
located in Temecula. Minimal travel outside the area may be

- A 401k Plan that has a matching of 50% by NBS up to 10% of the employee's salary. (The federal limits on 401k deposits would apply for each applicable year)
- Health and Dental Insurance coverage is paid in full for
the employee. If the employee desires to have dependant
coverage, payment for the dependant coverage can be made
with pre-tax payroll deductions
- Vacation time of 10 days and sick time of 5 days per year will start accruing from the day you start working for NBS
- Eight paid Holidays per year are currently observed by NBS
- Life insurance covering the employee in the sum of $50,000 is paid in full by NBS
- Short- and long-term disability insurance for the employee is paid in full by NBS
In addition to the benefits shown above, NBS offers a comfortable office and relaxed work environment with periodic off-site fun events. Some of the past events include family picnics, a day at the beach, and an annual weekend away to such places as Catalina Island and Laughlin. Due to the nature of our business, NBS does generally limit the use of vacation time to three days per employee during our busiest season of June 15th through August 31st. In contrast, NBS highly encourages employees to consider taking vacation around Holidays. We have found our dress code of Business Casual to be a very appreciated benefit by all employees.
