Senior VB.Net & SQL Programmer / Developer

About the Company : NBS is a growing private firm that provides specialized public finance consulting and services to local government agencies (cities, school districts, etc.) throughout California. In addition, NBS licenses its proprietary software, called D-FAST , to local government agencies nation-wide. The corporate office is in Temecula with the secondary office located in San Francisco . The company has grown and performed well over the past eleven years by providing valuable services with an excellent customer service orientation.

The Opportunity : NBS is developing the next generation of D-FAST, our revolutionary software solution that significantly automates and reduces the complexity of administering special assessments. It is available as both an ASP service solution (data hosted by NBS) and client/server configuration (data hosted by the agency). The firm has existing paid clients using the solution now, and we are looking to expand throughout our core market.

The Position: We are looking to add to our programming staff. A desirable candidate will demonstrate the skills necessary to successfully build, deploy, and maintain the D-FAST client/server application using Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005. The position involves coding, testing, debugging and documenting the SQL database layer, the business layer, and user interface.  Experience with database design and modeling is desired.  Experience with report creation and the creation of installation packages is also desired. 

The position requires expertise in a variety of software development concepts, practices, and procedures. The candidate must rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  The person will help solve complex design issues.  A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This position reports to the Software Group Manager.

Technologies:   A desirable candidate will have at least six years of experience (as applicable) with:

· VB 6/.NET/2005

· SQL Server 2005

· ASP/ASP.NET

· IIS

· Crystal Reports

· InstallShield

· 3 rd party components such as Infragistics

Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mon-Fri in the Temecula office.  Some overtime hours will be necessary throughout the year.

Education:   Significant previous experience with Visual Studio and SQL Server required.  A Bachelor's degree and at least four years of experience in the field preferred.  MCDBA and/or MCAD certifications desirable.

Travel: None.

· Vacation time of 10 days and sick time of 5 days per year will start accruing from the day you start working for NBS

· Short- and long-term disability insurance for the employee is paid in full by NBS

In addition to the benefits shown above, NBS offers a comfortable office and relaxed work environment with periodic off-site fun events. Due to the nature of our business, NBS does generally limit the use of vacation time to three days per employee during our busiest season of June 15th through August 31st. In contrast, NBS highly encourages employees to consider taking vacation around Holidays. We have found our dress code of Business Casual to be a very appreciated benefit by all employees.
