As NBS continues celebrating its 30th anniversary, we’re reflecting on one of the most important reasons for our longevity: the relationships we’ve built along the way.

For three decades, our success has been shaped by dedicated employees, valued clients, trusted partners, and the communities we serve. While technology, regulations, and the government finance landscape have evolved significantly over the years, one thing has remained constant: our commitment to partnership.

An Unexpected Legacy:
From Civil Engineering to Funding Tomorrow

Did you know? The name “NBS” traces back to three California civil engineers who named their firm after their initials: Norman Neste, John Brudin, and Raymond Stone.

The story that defines who we are today began three decades ago, when our founders saw more than a familiar name – they saw an opportunity to build on a trusted foundation. They kept a respected name but created a new vision: helping local governments establish the financial foundation needed to invest in their communities and fund their futures.

That spirit of building on strong foundations, in communities, partnerships and ideas, remains at the heart of who we are today. It’s a legacy rooted not in looking back, but in helping communities move forward.

The Power of Long-Term Trust

Many of our clients have worked with NBS for years, and in some cases, decades. These long-standing relationships are a testament to the trust, collaboration, and shared purpose that define our work. We are honored to support public agencies as they navigate fiscal challenges, pursue opportunities, and invest in their communities’ futures.

The same spirit of commitment can be found within our team. The knowledge, experience, and dedication of our employee-owners have helped shape NBS into the company it is today and continue to drive us forward.

Our Sincere Thanks

As we celebrate this milestone year, our gratitude is simple and sincere: thank you. Your trust and partnership have been an important part of our story, and we look forward to continuing this journey together for many years to come.
